Yes, says Jeffrey Brenzel, Dean of Undergraduate Admissions at Yale University

Universities are a powerful force for global integration and mutual understanding. Students who wish to study overseas may choose from many excellent models for higher education, including a liberal arts education in the United States. For the properly prepared and motivated student, that particular choice can bring many benefits.

The number of students applying to universities outside their country of birth is increasing. At our university, 17 per cent of applicants this year were international students. Yale’s international enrolment has reached 10 per cent, and the UK is among the top five countries of origin for our students.

Why? In our increasingly globalised society, students seek a broad set of curriculum options, personal access
