Parenting classes should be offered on the NHS to people whose children have antisocial behaviour disorders, the treatments watchdog recommends.

The classes should teach parents not to say “no” to their children, but instead encourage positive behaviour, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) says.

The guidance applies to about 5 per cent of children with diagnosable conduct disorders and experts said that it did not rule out “supernanny-style” discipline for other children.
