West tells Putin to use MH17 to end Ukraine crisis

David Cameron warned today that the West might have to “fundamentally change” its approach to Russia if President Putin failed to ensure that international investigators are given full access to the area in eastern Ukraine where flight MH17 was brought down in a missile attack with the loss of 298 lives.

As a team of Dutch experts visited the crash site in the village of Hrabove and inspected a train full of bodies that has become the object of an ungratifying tug-of-war, the prime minister told MPs that Russia faced a “defining moment”.

“The world is watching - and President Putin faces a clear choice in how he decides to respond to this appalling tragedy,” he said.
