A Liberal Democrat council will go to court today in an attempt to suppress a report detailing allegations of sexual misconduct against an MP.
Mike Hancock was suspended by the Lib Dems yesterday, but there was evidence that the party had been warned years ago about the MP’s alleged advances towards a vulnerable constituent. His alleged victim said party officials should hang their heads in shame over their handling of her case.
However, Lib Dem-led Portsmouth City Council will head to the High Court to stop a full version of its report being handed to the alleged victim. The report contains a series of claims against the MP for Portsmouth South.
