An aspiring brain surgeon and talented figure skater who fell 30 metres to her death in St Paul’s Cathedral was holding a note to her mother when she died.

Lidia Dragescu, 23, from Romford in Essex, has been named as the young woman who died last Wednesday after falling from the Whispering Gallery in the cathedral, a place that she visited regularly to find peace.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving staff who had rushed to save her in shock. Police are treating her death as non-suspicious.
