The week’s most heart-warming story was without doubt that of the twinkling songstress Selena Gomez, who — in failing health, due to her autoimmune disease, lupus — has had a kidney transplant, with the organ donated by her best friend, Francia Raisa.
“How can I possibly thank my beautiful friend?” Gomez tweeted afterwards. “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me.”
