A transition deal could pave the way to reverse Brexit in the near future, the deputy leader of the Liberal Democrats said at the party’s conference today.
Jo Swinson, speaking at a fringe meeting at the party’s convention in Bournemouth, said that working with pro-European Tories and Labour on post-Brexit trade agreements would keep the door open to EU membership and would not be “giving up”.
She said a transition deal would give businesses more stability and give the country space to think again on leaving the union.
