Jack Wilshere, the Arsenal midfield player, found himself embroiled in yet another smoking-related controversy last night after a photo emerged of the 23-year-old in a nightclub clutching what appears to be a shisha pipe.
The picture — purportedly taken at the Libertine bar in Mayfair last week — was posted on Instagram on Tuesday and though it was hastily removed, it was reposted on Twitter yesterday. In it, Wilshere, sidelined with an ankle injury, seems to be holding the hose of the pipe. There is no evidence that the England player was smoking the shisha or proof that the pipe was being used to smoke tobacco.
Wilshere has twice been pictured smoking — in London in 2013 and in Las Vegas after last summer’s World
