The Queen is heading this year to beat Queen Victoria’s record as the longest-serving British monarch, while the Duke of Edinburgh will be 94 in June. Yet despite their advancing years, instead of slowing down the couple are actually getting busier.
Their taste for hard work is revealed in figures published in The Times today, which show that both the Queen and the duke undertook more engagements in 2014 than they did the previous year.
Their workload takes them nearer to the levels seen in 2012, when the Queen and duke were kept unusually busy because of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, in which they undertook engagements across the country.
