Prisoners taught art of skinny latte to prepare for job market

They are usually better acquainted with barristers than baristas, but now prisoners are to be taught to make the perfect skinny latte in the hope that it will help them to get a job when they are released.

A handful of inmates will start training next month in the latest initiative focusing on the catering and hospitality industry as prospective employers of ex-convicts.

The barista training project is an extension of Brixton prison’s Bad Boys’ Bakery, where inmates are producing everything from bread rolls to pecan tarts for sale at the Lower Marsh Saturday market near Waterloo station.
