George Osborne has told corporate bosses that he can transform Britain into the “go-to western economy” for business if the Tories are re-elected.

At a private breakfast with chief executives in Davos, the chancellor said that he was committed to more structural reforms, including to the labour market to make it easier for companies to hire and fire. He also urged bosses to trumpet their success in creating more than a million jobs since 2010 and be proud of their achievements.

The Conservative-led coalition has cut corporation tax to the lowest in the G7, at 20 per cent, and resolved issues troubling business, such as the controlled foreign company regime and employment tribunals.
