Sainsbury’s has been forced to apologise after asking a lesbian couple to leave one of their shops on National Coming Out Day if they didn’t stop kissing.

A customer had complained, calling the couple “disgusting”.

Annabelle Paige, 22, an English literature student at Sussex University, was with her girlfriend in a Brighton store when a security guard stopped them.

She says she had given her girlfriend only a “light kiss” while they shopped together and is “deeply hurt and upset” by what happened next.
