Usain Bolt has given the Commonwealth Games his backing, only 24 hours after saying he thought they were “a bit s***”.

The Jamaican sprinter, who had ­admitted to The Times that he was “not really” having fun at the Games and felt that “the Olympics were better”, ­appeared yesterday to have had second thoughts. After watching the Jamaican women’s netball team lose to New ­Zealand, he said that the Games were “awesome”.

Bolt’s publicist, Ricky Simms , who was not present when the sprinter made his comments to The Times, described the story as “utter rubbish”, adding: “The atmosphere in and around the stadiums has been absolutely fantastic and I have absolutely no idea where these quotes have come from.” Bolt tweeted a message
