Fifa bares teeth with Luis Suárez World Cup biting charge

Luis Suárez faces being sent home from the World Cup in disgrace after Fifa this morning charged the Liverpool and Uruguay striker with biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini.

The 27-year-old star could receive a ban of up to 24 international matches, which would keep him out of Uruguay’s remaining matches in Brazil, starting with Saturday’s last-16 match against Colombia at the Maracana. He has until 9pm this evening to provide evidence to Fifa. Suárez’s club, Liverpool, are making no comment while the Fifa investigation continues.
