A British jihadist beheaded a US journalist in revenge for airstrikes against the Islamic State (Isis), the militants claimed in a horrific video released last night.
The unnamed Briton, clad in black and speaking with a strong London accent, is shown standing with a knife beside the kneeling figure of James Foley, a journalist who was kidnapped in Syria almost two years ago.
After a speech lasting slightly more than a minute in which he decries the “plot” against Isis, the militant accuses President Obama of denying Muslims the right to “live in safety under the Islamic caliphate [religious state]”.
This, the jihadist says, will “result in the bloodshed of your people”. He then takes the knife and appears to cut Foley’s throat before the
