A Liberal Democrat donor who was arrested in connection with a bribery inquiry into Rolls-Royce this week had been invited to Nick Clegg’s grace-and-favour mansion and considered for a peerage.
Indian-born Sudhir Choudhrie and his son, Bhanu, were confirmed yesterday as the suspects arrested on Wednesday in connection with a Serious Fraud Office investigation into allegations of bribery in Indonesia and China.
They were granted bail without conditions after being questioned for several hours at Snow Hill police station in London. Their spokesman said that they denied wrongdoing and were co-operating fully.
