“Bongo Bongo” Bloom is putting on a brave face. It must be lonely being so politically incorrect that even UKIP doesn’t want you but, despite his best efforts not to sound bitter, he just can’t help himself.
“Nigel didn’t even want to be leader, it was only because there was no one else,” said Godfrey Bloom of his friend of nearly 20 years, with whom he visited the Somme last month, talking battlefields like brothers in arms.
“In politics you have to be a complete sociopath. Politicians don’t have friends. They don’t have mates down the rugby club, because tomorrow morning they might have to stick a knife in their shoulder blades.”
He is referring, of course, to his punishment for stealing Mr Farage’s thunder
