Shepherd and Wedderburn has reported a bumper year for deal activity, after the law firm worked on transactions worth a total of £5.4 billion, including some of the biggest takeovers and fundraisings in Scotland.

Deals that the firm worked on included FanDuel, the fantasy sports company, which secured $275 million from investors such as Google Capital, Time Warner Investments and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts. FanDuel is one of Scotland’s technology “unicorns”, which, with Skyscanner, the travel search engine, is deemed to have achieved a valuation of more than $1 billion.

Shepherd and Wedderburn also worked on the $110 million sale of Aircraft Medical, the clinical devices maker, to Covidien Group. That netted Matt McGrath, the Aircraft Medical founder, an estimated eight-figure windfall.
