Canary Wharf and Docklands goes residential

The metamorphosis from industrial dockland to smart neighbourhood involves Crossrail and thousands of new homes

You will soon, for the very first time, have the chance to live among the Masters of the Universe. There are already residential schemes in the area surrounding Canary Wharf, but the first homes in the epicentre of the financial district went on sale earlier this month. They won’t be finished until 2019, but before they’ve even been built people are queueing around the block to snap them up.

Thousands more homes are in the pipeline, and the developers hope that this will finally complete the district’s metamorphosis from industrial wasteland to bustling residential community.
