The sign on the road to St Mawes — home of the much-loved Hotel Tresanton, run by design guru Olga Polizzi, and the popular, recently refurbished Idle Rocks hotel — reads: “The Big House by the Sea.” This is how the 30-room Rosevine likes to refer to itself. It’s not a hotel, it’s a “big house . . . a stylish alternative to a hotel”. Take a left at the sign and head down a corkscrew lane and you come to a white house that is indeed pretty big, with a lawn overlooking the sea.
