Dyson has been accused by the maker of Bosch and Siemens vacuum cleaners of falsely alleging that it cheated energy efficiency tests in a manner similar to the VW emissions scandal.

BSH Hausgeräte said yesterday that it “strenuously rejected” the “unfounded and untrue” allegation made by Dyson that Bosch and Siemens vacuum cleaners featured electronics that could dupe energy testers.

Dyson has lodged court cases in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands alleging that BSH used “intelligent sensor technology” to increase the power of its vacuum cleaners when they were used in the home.

BSH said that it was “initiating legal steps” against Dyson in Britain over the allegations.
