Novak Djokovic has been forced to deny that he has cheated during matches despite admitting that he and his coaching staff have communicated while play has been going on.

The revelation about signals being sent to the Serb from the players’ box was made by his own coach, Boris Becker, who said that the world No 1’s back-room staff “have our ways ... to tell him it’s good or it’s bad”.

All forms of on-court coaching are forbidden at grand-slam tournaments but Djokovic, the Wimbledon champion, said that it is something which often occurs.
