A teenage boy armed with a crossbow, a machete and a Molotov cocktail killed a teacher and injured four other people at a school in Barcelona yesterday.
The 13-year-old pupil walked into the Instituto Joan Fuster just after 9.20am. He shot at a female teacher with the crossbow, narrowly missing her face, and then shot at her daughter, who was one of the pupils. When another teacher, Abel Martínez Oliva, heard screaming and ran to help his colleague, the boy attacked him with the machete and killed him.
Yesterday was the 16th anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre in the US, in which two teenage boys murdered 12 fellow students and a teacher.
