A former drug dealer who posed with severed heads in a recruitment video for an Islamic State faction faked his own death in order to return to Britain.

Imran Khawaja, 27, appeared in a number of disturbing recruitment videos for an organisation called Rayat al-Tawheed, which included calls to join the jihad and “start taking heads off”.
