Reading January’s Vogue, I can’t say I was thrilled to see page after page of Seventies fashion: flares, dodgy prints, floaty, folksy, boho nonsense. Ugh. Am I really going to have to wear this stuff, or can I sit this one out? The only good news is that wearing lilac and tan together is deemed to be fashionable, and that strikes me as a pretty combination I could work with. True, both colours make me look like the undead, but so does black and I still wear it every day.
Trench coats are something else that look surprisingly awful on me yet I wear anyway. Mine, in fact, achieves the remarkable double whammy of being unflattering in both style (belted) and colour (pale beige).
