Britain’s best-known rat catcher is about to expand its empire with two acquisitions, including one that will mark its entry into Central America.

It is understood that Rentokil Initial will confirm today that it has bought Sagrip in Latin America and Eradico Services in Detroit, Michigan.

The purchase of Sagrip will give the group a way into the growing markets of Guatemala and El Salvador. It will also expand Rentokil’s broader Latin American portfolio, which includes operations in Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Brazil.

Latin America is a fertile territory for pest control because of its warm and wet climate and its growing pool of affluent domestic and foreign businesses and consumers. Sagrip is considered one of the top independent pest-control companies in Guatemala and El
