Luis Suárez is set to hold urgent talks with Brendan Rodgers in the next 24 hours after another day of claim and counter-claim about the forward’s future.
Suárez is due to return to Merseyside today after playing in Uruguay’s 4-2 win over Japan in Miyagi and he will immediately begin discussions with the Liverpool manager.
Top of the agenda will be comments attributed to Suárez that emerged in Uruguay yesterday, in which he was reported to have said that he is willing to remain at Liverpool. “For now, due to all of the people’s affection [for me], I will be staying,” the 26-year-old said according to El Observador, the Uruguayan newspaper.
