A British man is missing after falling overboard from a yacht in the middle of the Pacific. The US Coast Guard and US Navy have sent helicopters and a ship to search for the 35-year-old and have rescued his male companion from the boat.
The missing man was conscious and wearing a yellow life jacket when he went overboard about 500 miles (800km) west of the Midway Atoll in the far reaches of the Hawaiian archipelago. However, he had not been found more than 15 hours later, Petty Officer Eric J. Chandler, a Coast Guard spokesman, said.
