This has been Ed Miliband’s week. On Sunday, he was up most of the night leading negotiations on press regulation and forming an alliance with Nick Clegg. The next day, he appeared statesmanlike in the House of Commons as he thanked ministers and officials for their contribution. He met Bono to discuss the G8 and had dinner with Turner Prize-winning artists, in between responding to the Budget and attending the enthronement of the Archbishop of Canterbury.
